Scouting UNOH
Defending WHAC Champions Northwestern Ohio are a force in the conference once again in 2018, as they are receiving votes in the NAIA with a 21-14, 14-3 WHAC record. Power hitting has been the key to success for the Racers this season, hitting just over one home run a game while ranking 14th in the NAIA in total doubles with 72. Senior Blake Maines leads the team with a .468 batting average, while fellow senior Junior Gomez is the team leader with seven HR's and 39 RBI. UNOH has been dominant in the late innings, outscoring opponents 41-14 in the eighth and ninth innings. From the mound, Oliver Mailloux has gotten the majority of the work pitching a WHAC high 60.2 innings and holding a 7-2 record with a 2.67 ERA.

History vs. the Racers
Northwestern Ohio has been one of the best in the WHAC and Cornerstone has struggled against them, holding just a 2-15 record all-time. CU won two of the first three matchups against the Racers but have now dropped 14 straight to the defending WHAC Champions. The last time the two teams faced each other came in the first game of the conference tournament, where CU fell 12-2 giving them their first loss in the double-elimination tournament.

Record Breaking Performance
Cornerstone's 22-1 win at Rochester broke a pair of program records, as 22 runs and 19 RBI are new single game program records since CU baseball restarted in 2013. On the weekend, CU totaled 46 runs with 35 of those coming by way of an RBI to bring the Golden Eagle run total to 187 on the year.

Starting Pitching
The Golden Eagles starting pitchers have been dominate of late, going 5+ innings in each of the last five games. CU has recorded a 4-1 record in those five games and has seen the starting pitcher get the win in all four of those victories. The three primary starting pitchers for the Golden Eagles this season have combined for a 12-10 overall record and a 4.24 ERA.

WHAC Player of the Week
Junior Dustin DeBeau was named WHAC Player of the Week for his record breaking performance at Rochester this past weekend. DeBeau went 6-11 at the plate with 10 RBI and five runs scored in three games. In the series finale at Rochester, DeBeau recorded a program record six RBI along with his first home run as a Golden Eagle. On the year, DeBeau is hitting .329 with a team second best 20 RBI.

WHAC Pitcher of the Week
Senior Kyle Herrick continued his stretch of stellar starts on the mound to earn WHAC Pitcher of the Week. Herrick threw a seven-inning complete game with a career high and program record 14 strikeouts to help CU defeat Rochester 22-1 in the series finale last Saturday. Herrick in his past three starts has gone 6+ innings and held an ERA under 1.50. On the year, Herrick is 3-3 with a 3.10 ERA in 49.1 innings pitched.

Gilman's Career First
Freshman Trenton Gilman got his first opportunity to start at first base since joining Cornerstone this fall. Gilman recorded a pair of RBI for his first in his career, along with getting two hits in 10 at bats.
