Softball returns to action with DH at Trinity International

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After 11 days since the conclusion of the Florida trip, the Golden Eagles will hit the road on Thursday for a pair of non-conference games against Trinity International before gearing up for four doubleheaders in a five-day span next week, starting with the home opener against Cleary on Tuesday, March 26.

Scouting Report
  • The teams are scheduled to play each other five times this season. The first resulted in an 8-3 TIU victory in Clermont, Florida on March 5. The teams will face off again in Grand Rapids in the home finale on April 23.
  • Brooke Heraty had two hits and two RBI while Hannah Gentry had three hits and two runs for TIU in the March 5 matchup. For Cornerstone, Alessa Baldwin-Buchner and Courtney Ducharme both had two hits and an RBI.
  • Lauren Neveau leads the team with a .395 batting average.
  • Madison Lenzke is coming off a four-RBI performance against Lincoln on Tuesday. She leads the team with seven RBI.

Notes about the Golden Eagles
  • Rachel Younts recorded a career-high seven strikeouts as a freshman against Trinity International in an 8-2 win on March 7, 2016.
  • Jocelyn Hernandez concluded the Florida trip by going 5-for-12 at the plate with three home runs and a team-high 10 RBI in her last four games.
  • Four different players had a pair of doubles in Florida: McKena Razenberg, Sierra Sanchez, Mackenzie Vallad, and Savanna Sanchez.
  • Junior McKena Razenberg led the team with 13 hits in Florida. Razenberg had eight RBI, already surpassing her 2018 season RBI total of three. The center fielder had a monster game against Saint Francis, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and four RBI.
