Baseball opens play at De Witt Field with six home games this week

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles are set for a busy week of baseball with three home conference series against Madonna, Cleary, and Lawrence Tech. All three double-headers will be played on the campus of Cornerstone University with the home opener against the Crusaders taking place on Tuesday at 1 p.m. All three series will have live video, audio, stats available at cugoldeneagles.com. Cornerstone Baseball Quick Facts:
•  Cornerstone opened the WHAC season on the road at Lourdes and earned a split with the Gray Wolves winning game one 10-0 and losing 5-1 in game two. The Golden Eagles are now 8-13, 1-1 WHAC on the year as they will return home to De Witt field for six consecutive home games including their home opener against Madonna on Tuesday at 1 p.m. 
 
• Senior Collin Young pitched the best outing of his career this past weekend, with a complete game shutout and nine strikeout performance in the Golden Eagles 10-0 win at Lourdes. Nine K's are a career high for the senior. 
 
• Senior Aaron Krupansky still sits just four RBI away from being the first CU player to 100 in a career. 
 
• Cornerstone will host a trio of WHAC foes this week, playing Madonna, Cleary, and Lawrence Tech on the week. In program history, CU holds a dominating 7-0 record vs. Cleary and 5-1 record vs. Lawrence Tech but have struggled against Madonna going just 4-18 all-time. The Crusaders currently are the only team in the WHAC yet to be unbeaten with a 2-0 record defeating Rochester in both games of a DH.
