Notes about the Golden Eagles
  • Freshman pitcher Kaitlin Johnson struck out nine batters in game one against Rochester on Wednesday. Her previous career/season high was 7 against Trinity Christian on March 4 in her first career win. Last season, Brooke Leonard struck out 9 batters against Lawrence Tech on 4/4/18. No CU pitcher has struck out 10+ batters in a game since Heidi Walburg had 10 strikeouts against Aquinas on 4/23/14. Both Brooke and Heidi currently serve as assistant coaches in the CU Softball program.
  • Sophomore Maddie Vassar entered the games on Wednesday at Rochester as the leader in hits with 15, but none for extra bases. Vassar's first extra-base hit of the season came in big fashion. She blasted her first career home run in the 2nd inning of game one, a three-run shot over the fence in left center field to help CU win 4-1.
  • After starting 0-for-9 at the plate this season, Courtney Ducharme has turned things around to go 13-for-27 with three doubles and four RBI since the cold start. Ducharme has reached base safely in nine consecutive games.
  • McKena Razenberg recorded a career high three hits against Rochester on Wednesday. The junior's RBI total (10) already surpasses last year's total of three. After four hits on the day on Wednesday, Razenberg's career hit total sits at an even 50.
  • Freshman Ashley Loera leads the pitching staff in ERA with 2.44 and holds the opposition to a .229 batting average.
