GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Graduating senior Noah Reed has been given the opportunity to continue his baseball career at the professional level, signing a deal with the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers of the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL). The USPBL is an independent professional league with four teams that play at Jimmy John's Field in Utica, Michigan.

Reed, who spent three years at Cornerstone after transferring from Olivet Nazarene had his most successful season with the Golden Eagles as a senior, posting a 3.42 ERA and 3-3 record with a team second best 67 strikeouts. Reed throughout his career has split time as a starter and reliever, and has now been moved full-time into the bullpen with the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers.

In three professional appearances with the Beavers, Reed has thrown a total of four innings and holds a 4.50 ERA with five strikeouts. When asked about his experience in his first couple of weeks at the professional level Reed stated, "It has been great playing with some really talented players. Being able to see what baseball is like on a professional level is humbling, but it also drives me to better myself athletically; knowing that it is a job, but also a great opportunity to showcase the abilities God has gifted me with."

Cornerstone head baseball coach Chuck Lowitzki added "I am thrilled that Noah gets to continue his baseball career in the USPBL. It was a pleasure to see him work hard and develop into a very good pitcher here at Cornerstone."

Playing in Utica, Michigan is also very close to a homecoming for Reed as he grew up in Flint which is just under an hour away. Outside of striving to develop his baseball career, Noah and his wife Allie are focused on their family, as they have a newborn daughter at home who is nearing two months old.

Reed joins a select few who have gone on to sign professional deals since the program re-start in 2013 as Jonny Abbadusky, Luke Heller, and Kyle Herrick have each played independent ball, while Ben Sheckler played a short stent in the Major League system with the San Diego Padres affiliates.
