Offense Awakens
Cornerstone has found their stride over the last three games with the offense waking up, scoring multiple goals in each of the last three matches and going 2-1 in those games. CU has only scored multiple goals in four contests this year, as all three of the team's wins have required more than one goal to be scored.
Christian Galloway had yet another two-goal game this week and
David Mawi joined him with his first two goals of the year in the loss at UNOH.
The Penalty Spot
Cornerstone has gotten to the penalty spot in each of their last three contests.
Christian Galloway has taken two of the PK's and
David Mawi one. CU is technically two for three at the spot, but the one miss was resulted in a rebound goal for Galloway, which has helped spark the CU offense.
Alan Roman Back in Net
Alan Roman has been outstanding in his return to net after injury, recording a career high 12 saves in the Golden Eagles 3-1 win vs. Rochester. On the year, Roman has 45 saves for a .776 save percentage as he is allowing 1.90 goals against.
History vs. This Week's Opponents
Cornerstone has been dominant over UM-Dearborn in eight career meetings, going 6-2-0. The only two losses game via forfeit and a 1-0 loss in double OT. CU has also dominated Indiana Tech with a 26-9-3 all-time record vs. the Warriors, but since IIT's surge to one of the best in the NAIA, CU has lost six straight matches.
Scouting UM-Dearborn
UM-Dearborn is 3-7-1, 2-2-1 in the WHAC to sit in sixth in the conference standings this year. After the team did not play in 2020 due to COVID-19, they bring in a very young team that has lost some close games but surprised some good teams, sneaking out victories. Defending has been the biggest flaw for UMD as they have allowed 2.38 goals per game and have not shutout any opponent this season. Offensively, the team has eight different goal scorers with their leader only at two.
Scouting Indiana Tech
The veteran Warriors continue to get better each and every season as they are ninth in the nation with an 11-1-0 record and 5-0-0 WHAC record. IIT is the only team to remain undefeated in conference play as they have only allowed two goals to conference opponents. Indiana Tech has mixed and matched their starting lineup, with 20 different players getting starts. The only two players to start every game has been their standout keeper in Jaume Salvado who has an .806 save percentage and six individual shutouts, and their standout midfielder Maxwell Amoako who leads the team with eight goals and 17 points.
