Senior Day
Just like the women's volleyball and women's soccer programs, Head Coach
Steve Herdsman and the men's soccer team will honor their seniors on Saturday vs. Lourdes. CU has a multitude of seniors this year that all have the option to use their COVID fifth year. Cornerstone plans to honor all seniors regardless of if they use their fifth year, as
Alan Roman,
Jeshua Boggs,
Allan Barrientos,
Jason Lugo,
Roberto Razo,
Luke Blickley,
Davin McMullin,
Shuzuo Akamu, and
Cody Bennett will all be honored.
NAIA Auto Bids
Due to Cleary dropping out for the season, the WHAC has one automatic bid to NAIA Nationals this year rather than two. The regular season champion will earn that bid, with Indiana Tech currently slotted to earn that spot with an 8-0-1 WHAC record. The WHAC Tournament will still take place, but the winner of the tournament will not get an automatic bid and instead the tournament will be a time for teams to improve their resume for a potential at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
Last Week Recap
Cornerstone played just one game last week at Siena Heights to end their road regular season games for the year and they fell 2-1 in regulation.
Christian Galloway scored the lone goal of the game to improve his season best total to six on the year.
Scouting Lawrence Tech
The Blue Devils have had an outstanding 2021 year, going 10-5, 6-2-0 WHAC on the year to sit in third overall. LTU has a very veteran roster that has won four straight matches to get to where they are at. The defense has been dominant all year, earning six shutout wins holding opponents to 1.31 goals per game while scoring 2.8 a game. The depth of Lawrence Tech has been incredible this year as 17 different players have scored at least one goal with nine of those players having three or more goals.
Scouting Lourdes
The Gray Wolves are another veteran team who got off to a great start with a 6-2 record, but have struggled since going 1-5-1 in their last seven games. Last time out, Lourdes fell 3-1 to Lawrence Tech. Lourdes is led by Farouk Amoo who has 12 goals and three assists for a team high 27 points. Lourdes passes the ball very well as they have assists on 27 of the teams 30 goals in 2021.
