Softball heads to Florida to play 14 games in seven days

SOFTBALL IS BACK!

FULL SCHEDULE

Softball is finally back as they will be looking to build off last season where they finished sixth in the WHAC and had an overall 17-20-1 record. The Golden Eagles lost three key starters from last season but return a young and veteran roster looking build off their previous year successes. They will be starting their season like they have in previous years, down in Florida in the Space Coach games. Cornerstone will be playing 14 games in seven days in Florida with their toughest opponent coming against (17) Marian University on Tuesday, March 7.

RETURN OF THE STOLEN BASE LEADER

Jolie Groeneveld

Senior Jolie Groeneveld returns for her second season with the Golden Eagles as she was a First Team All-Conference player that saw her break the school stolen base record with 27 stolen bases. She also led the team with a .354 average to go along with eight triples and a .631 slugging percentage.

Cornerstone is a young team that has eight newcomers this year, seven of them all from the state of Michigan. Morgan Jenkins is the only freshman outside of the state of Michigan coming from Napanee, Ind. She joins Hanna DePoy and Delaney Wilson as the only players not from the state of Michigan. 

Opponent Outlook

Cornerstone takes on 13 different programs out of their 14 games in their week at the Space Coach Games. The Golden Eagles only face one opponent inside the top 25 as that comes against #17 Marian on Tuesday, March 7. They will look to kick off their 2023 season on a high note as their season starts on Saturday, March 4 against Ave Maria and St. Thomas University.
