GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Softball opened the beginning of WHAC play last week as they too on nonconference opponent Indiana University South Bend and (RV) Madonna. The Golden Eagles opened their week with a sweep over IUSB 10-8 and 6-1 while finishing up the week dropping two against (RV) Madonna 6-0 and 13-3. Cornerstone was supposed to face off against Cleary on Saturday, March 25 but weather forced a rescheduling as they will now have a busy week of games starting on Tuesday, March 28 against Cleary. They will then hit the road to play Lourdes and Siena Heights on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1. Sprague Power Surge
Moriah Sprague had an impressive showing against Indiana University South Bend where she went a perfect 5-5 between the two games. She got it going in game one where she capped off a big first inning for the Golden Eagles with a three-run homerun. She would then follow that up with three more doubles to help give Cornerstone the 10-8 game one victory. She continued her hot day in game two driving in two runs thanks to an RBI single and a sac fly to cap off her 5-5, five RBI day in the two Cornerstone victories.
Opponent Outlook
Cleary is sitting at 6-17 losing their last five games coming into the week against Cornerstone. Mckenzie Latshaw is leading the way for Cleary with a .306 batting average. Sonya Terleckyj is their primary pitcher as she has thrown 65 innings with a 3.77 ERA as they have a team ERA of 4.49.
Lourdes has gotten off to a little bit of a slow start as they are currently sitting at 5-13 on the season losing their first two conference matchups against Lawrence Tech. Maddie Darrah leads the way for the Gray Wolves batting .391 with a team high nine doubles. Berlynn Keller has been the go-to pitcher for Lourdes, pitching 54 innings with a 3.24 ERA. Cornerstone finishes off the long week against Siena Heights University where they are currently 3-16 on the season. Siena Heights will face off against Lourdes earlier in the week before hosting Cornerstone. Shyann Truax and Courtnee Chappetta are one and two in hitting for the Saints as Truax is leading the team with a .419 average with Chappetta right behind her at .400. Truax is also Siena Heights primary pitcher as she has thrown 68 innings with a 4.22 ERA.

The game against Aquinas on Wednesday, March 29 has postponed until Tuesday, April 4 thanks to inclement weather on Wednesday.
