SYLVANIA, Ohio – In a rematch against Lourdes, Cornerstone got the best of the Gray Wolves in a double header sweep. Cornerstone won game one, winning the pitching duel as they scored eight runs in the top of the seventh to win 8-0.
Lucas Vega went the distance with 10 strikeouts. In game two, Lourdes made a late comeback, but
Ben Barnes shut the door as Cornerstone would win 9-7. With the win, baseball is now 7-18 (2-6) on the year as they host Michigan-Dearborn on Friday, March 29 for a double header starting at 1 p.m.
Game One Highlights – Cornerstone – 8 Lourdes – 0
- Lucas Vega got the start in game one and worked around a bases loaded jam to keep Lourdes off the board.
- Lucas Vega has five strikeouts through the first three innings as the game remains scoreless heading to the fourth.
- Through five innings, Vega continues to deal not allowing a run, but Cornerstone has yet to have a hit heading into the sixth inning.
- Ben Barnes opens the seventh inning with a leadoff double to give Cornerstone their first hit of the game. Two batters later, Cornerstone has the bases loaded with nobody out. JC Salinas would walk to give Cornerstone their first run of the game, leading 1-0. Andrew Meny would clear the bases with a three RBI double to give Cornerstone a 4-0. Drew Goodman and Gannon Fox would bring home a couple more with singles as the Golden Eagles now lead 6-0. A couple more free bases sees Cornerstone put up eight runs as they lead 8-0 heading into the last half of the seventh.

Game Two Highlights – Cornerstone – 9 Lourdes – 7
- Cornerstone struck first in game two as Ethan Lajiness came through with a two out RBI single to make it 1-0 in the second inning.
- JC Salinas opened the third inning with a single and would come home on a Matthew Kindley RBI single to make it 2-0 in the third inning.
- Alex Hayward has kept Lourdes off the board as the Golden Eagles lead 2-0 after three innings.
- Cornerstone used a two-out rally to score four runs with the big hit coming from Andrew Meny as he brought in two with a double into center field to give Cornerstone a 6-0 lead.
- The Golden Eagles continue to hold Lourdes scoreless as they lead 6-0 after six innings.
- Matthew Kindley brings home another run with a triple, and he would later score on a sac fly from Gannon Fox. Cornerstone leads 8-0 after the top of the seventh.
- Lourdes would get on the board in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch to make it 8-1.
- Lourdes would take advantage of a few errors by the Golden Eagles to score a run to make it 8-2 in the eighth inning. A couple walks and a couple hits later, Lourdes has made it a 8-7 game heading into the ninth inning.
- Ethan Lajiness brings home an insurance run with a fielder's choice RBI to make it 9-7 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.
- Ben Barnes works around a little traffic in the bottom of the ninth but puts a zero on the board to complete the sweep, winning 9-7.
