GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In the final homestand of the year, Cornerstone welcomed Rochester Christian for a double header. In a wild back-and-forth game that saw 27 total runs, Rochester stole a victory away from the Golden Eagles with a 14-13 win. In game two, the pitching settled in, and the bats kept up their game one pace with 11 more runs.
Lucas Vega drove in four in the victory as he and
Matthew Kindley both homered. Cornerstone will be right back in action against Rochester for Senior Day starting at 1 p.m.
Game One Highlights – Rochester – 14 Cornerstone – 13
- Rochester scored first thanks to a single into left field to take a 1-0 lead. The next batter would follow with a single of their own to make it 2-0 after the top of the first.
- With one out, Andrew Meny would drive in a run with a double into right center to make it 2-1. Matthew Kindley would follow with a single to drive in Meny to tie the game 2-2. Cornerstone would add two more to lead 4-2 after the bottom of the first.
- Three straight hits for Rochester brought in another run as it is now 4-3 in the second inning.
- Two innings, two RBI doubles from Andrew Meny as his latest one made it 5-3 after the second inning.
- Back-to-back triples from Rochester made it a 5-4 game. The Warriors would add one more on a single into right center to tie the game 5-5.
- With one out, Gannon Fox gave Cornerstone the lead with a single into right field, scoring two Golden Eagles to make it 7-5 after the third inning.
- Both teams finally threw up a zero on the board as the game heads into the fifth, Cornerstone leading 7-5.
- Rochester opened the sixth inning with a solo homerun to make it 7-6.
- The Golden Eagles loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth as Andrew Eley would drive one in on a sac fly to make it 8-6. Michael Ruiz would come through with a two RBI single to make it 10-3. JC Salinas would follow with the big hit in the inning with a homerun to make it 13-6 after the fifth inning.
- Rochester would answer, scoring three in the top of the sixth but the Golden Eagles still lead 13-9.
- After loading the bases, Rochester would score a run with a single to make it 13-10. A single and a walk later, the Golden Eagles are clinging to a 13-12 lead. With two outs, Rochester would hit a single into right center, scoring two to take a 14-13 lead over the Golden Eagles.

Game Two Highlights – Cornerstone – 11 Rochester - 1
- Ben Barnes and Drew Goodman started the bottom of the second with back-to-back singles to get the offense going. Lucas Vega would bring them home with a single into right center to take a 2-0 lead. Daniel Freeman would add another on a sac fly, making it 3-0 after the second inning.
- Rochester answered with a double in the top of the third to make it 3-1.
- Matthew Kindley opened the bottom of the third with a solo homerun off the wrestling building to make it 4-1. Vega would bring home another to make it 5-1 after three innings of play.
- Cornerstone continued to tack on runs as they now lead 7-1 after the fifth inning.
- Rafael Blom has pitched five strong innings for the Golden Eagles.
- Lucas Vega opened the bottom of the seventh with a homerun into right center to extend Cornerstone's lead 8-1. Hits by Daniel Freeman and Andrew Eley kept the inning alive for Andrew Meny who would run rule the Warriors as the Golden Eagles take game two, 11-1
