Rematch Against #24 Indiana Tech Ends Women’s Basketball’s Tournament Hopes

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Women's Basketball held the eighth spot in the WHAC as they headed into tournament play as the number eight seed overall. This meant they would take on the top seed in the tournament, which was #24 Indiana Tech. A rematch of last week's meeting between these two sides, in which the first ended in defeat for the Golden Eagles 65-39.

The Golden Eagles could not seem to get much offense going in the first quarter as they only managed to get four points on the board as the Warriors flew ahead to a 21-point lead at the end of one period 25-4. Jaxi Long knocked down five points at the end of the second quarter going into halftime, but Indiana Tech held a 37-point lead 50-13. The lead for Indiana Tech grew to 50 in the third quarter, as the Golden Eagles struggled to make a stop on defense against the #24 ranked-team in the nation. The score before the final quarter was 75-25. The Golden Eagles had a more evenly matched final quarter against the Warriors as they put up 20 points to Indiana Tech's 22, but the damage had already been done. #24 Indiana Tech, the number one seed in the tournament, would move forward with a victory over Cornerstone 97-45.

With this postseason defeat to Indiana Tech, the Golden Eagles will head back to Grand Rapids, Mich. with an overall record of 13-16 overall and 11-12 in WHAC play. Cornerstone will look ahead to offseason training and the 2026-27 season after concluding a tough year in which they graduated three seniors.
