GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Jill Steenwyk (JR/Sparta, Mich.) posted a career high 23 points to lead the Cornerstone Women's Basketball team to an 89-66 upset of No. 25 Madonna. The victory lifts CU to 18-8 on the year and 13-5 in the WHAC as they remain in fourth place just one game out of second. The Golden Eagles will return to Mol Arena on Wednesday to face No. 20 Siena Height at 5:30.

Game Flow
Cornerstone jumped out to a fast 7-2 lead just over three minutes into the game but saw the Crusaders, behind the play of the conference's leading scorer Michele Hayes, get within two at 26-24 but that would be as close as the visitors would get with CU leading 44-34 at halftime. The 44 points scored were just 14 less than what CU had in the entire game the first time these two teams met back in November.

Cornerstone then put the game away early in the second half as they scored nine of the first 11 points to up their lead to 17 and the closest MU would get for the remainder of the game was 11 with 8:26 to play. Jill Steenwyk (23) was joined in double-figures by Ashley Niedermayer (SR/Lincolnshire, Ill) (16), Jill Hendrickson (JR/Ada, Mich.) (14) as well as Ellery Mast (FR/Zeeland, Mich.) and Tanner Hostetler (JR/Archbold, Ohio) with 11 each.

Say What?
"We knew this was a very important game as is every one till the end of the regular season and it was great to see so many people score. This is the best we have looked offensively all season and it was nice to be a part of that." – Junior Jill Steenwyk
