Home game vs. No. 20 Indiana Tech highlights two game week

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles will highlight a two game week with a chance for redemption in a big home matchup vs. No. 20 Indiana Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m. Cornerstone will also take on last placed Marygrove earlier in the week, as they will travel to Detroit for a 6:00 p.m. game vs. The Mustangs. Coverage for the Saturday home game against Indiana Tech will be available through cugoldeneagles.com/watch.

Scouting Marygrove
The small Marygrove roster of just nine girls have struggled since the last time CU saw them, as the Mustangs have posted a 2-13 record since the November 16th match-up with Cornerstone. Marygrove is 3-18 on the year and 1-11 in the WHAC, sitting in last place in the conference standings. Elisha Major continues to lead MG in scoring at 16.9 PPG while Breanna Thomas is the team leader in rebounds at 7.3 per game.
 
Last Time vs. The Mustangs
Cornerstone kept their dominance over Marygrove alive last time out, defeating The Mustangs 87-52 in Mol Arena on November 16, 2016. That win brought head coach Katie Mattera's record to 9-0 all-time vs. MG, making Marygrove and Lourdes the last two WHAC teams that Mattera has never lost to.

No. 20 Indiana Tech has been dominate this season going 13-6, 8-4 on the year so far. The three point shooting offense of the Warriors have carried them this season, as they are top 10 in the nation averaging just over nine made threes a game at 37.1%. Guard Haley Cook leads the team with 17.8 PPG, shooting 41.8% from the field, while division one transfer (IPFW) Keanna Gary averages a double-double for IIT at 16.2 PPG and 12.0 RPG.
 
Last Time vs. The Warriors
Cornerstone suffered their worst conference loss of the year last time out vs. Indiana Tech, falling in Fort Wayne 82-50 to the No. 21 team in the country. Indiana Tech now ranks 20th in the nation, as CU looks to improve upon their 7-2 home record with an upset.
 
Sheridan Hits 100 Career Steals
Jesse Sheridan needed just two steals this past week to surpass 100 for her career, and she did so with four on the road against Northwestern Ohio. Sheridan added two more vs. Concordia to give her 104 in her career. Sheridan this year leads the team in steals with 42, averaging 2.1 per game.
 
Otten Nears 200 Career Assists
Lizzy Otten is just 12 assists away from reaching 200 for her career. Otten has a team high 68 assists in her first year playing as a member of the Golden Eagles, along with 110 assists that she recorded in her two seasons with the Madonna Crusaders.
 
Dominance with Balanced Scoring
The Golden Eagles have been dominant when two or more players score in double-digits this season, as nine of their 10 wins have come with two or more players scoring in double-digits. Cornerstone is 1-7 this season when only one player scores in double figures in a game.
 
WHAC Standings
The Golden Eagles continue to hold their ground in the WHAC, as the conference season has now surpassed its midway point on the year. Cornerstone currently is sitting in the three-way tie for third place in the conference with Siena Heights and Northwestern Ohio at 7-5, while Lawrence Tech and Indiana Tech are just ahead of CU, tied with an 8-4 conference record. Davenport is on top of the standings, as they have yet to be beaten in WHAC play at 12-0 on the year.
 
180 Away from 1,000
Jesse Sheridan's road to becoming the only sophomore to score 1,000 points in school history continues after grinding out 25 and 21 point games last week. The number for Sheridan is now down to under 200, as she needs just 180 more points to hit 1,000.
