Scouting Bethel
The Pilots are looking to get back to their winning ways of the early and mid 2000's, as they have not posted a winning season since 2012-13. Second year head coach Eric Gingerich is hoping to turn Bethel around in the coming years, as he has posted a 15-28 record so far at the helm of the Pilots. A young Bethel team that sees five freshmen on the roster comes into 2017-18 with a 5-7 record overall and a 1-3 record in Crossroads League action. Junior Kamala Glenn is the key contributor for Bethel, as she records a team best 16.3 PPG, 3.8 APG, and 2.2 SPG.

History vs. the Pilots
Cornerstone will be playing Bethel for the fourth consecutive year, when they host the Pilots this Wednesday. Since the 2000-01 season, the Golden Eagles have gone 7-8 against the Crossroads League opponent. Last season, the two teams met in the Holiday Classic hosted by Davenport University where CU fell 66-59 in an overtime thriller. Cornerstone will be hosting Bethel inside Mol Arena for the first time since December of 2014 when CU garnished a 70-52 win on their home floor.

Vredevoogd 19 Away
Senior Cass Vredevoogd tallied 27 points last week to move her just 19 points away from becoming the 25th Golden Eagle all-time to reach 1,000 career points. Vredevoogd scored 497 points at Dordt College before coming to Cornerstone where she has tallied 484 career points. So far this season, Vredevoogd is second on the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game and is first on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.9 per game.

Mattera Eclipses 100
Head Coach Katie Mattera became the third coach in Golden Eagle history to earn 100 or more wins in a career, tallying her 100th win last week in a huge road upset of No. 22 Lawrence Tech. Mattera is in her sixth season as head coach and holds a 100-71 all-time record for a .585 winning percentage. Mattera needs just nine more wins to pass Kevin Shuneson for second place all-time in Cornerstone women's basketball history.

Career Highs
Junior Mya Udell and senior Taryn Sack saw themselves inserted into the Golden Eagle starting lineup last week, and they each took advantage posting career high statistics. Udell posted a career high 17 points including five threes (all in the first half) in a 20 point win at Grace Bible last Friday. Sack recorded a career high in assists in the same game, posting six in the victory. CU has gone 3-1 this season when at least one of the two players gets a start.

Injury Bug
The Golden Eagles were able to post a 2-0 week despite seeing the injuries pile up. Jesse Sheridan and Sydney Muller joined Breona Wilson on the injury list for at least one game this past week. Muller missed the game at Grace Bible, as she dealt with a stress fracture in her foot, but she was able to return in the win at No. 22 Lawrence Tech. Leading scorer Jesse Sheridan did not play in either game this week, missing games for the first time in her career, as she is dealing with a knee injury that she suffered at Madonna last Saturday. Sheridan is expected to return to the Golden Eagles starting lineup by the beginning of the New Year.

Winning vs. Ranked Opponents
Cornerstone has posted three wins against NAIA Top 25/RV opponents this season, going 3-3 on the year. This is already much improved from a year ago, as CU was just 1-10 against NAIA Top 25/RV opponents last season. Cornerstone last won three or more games against a ranked opponent in 2013-14, where they won five in Katie Mattera's second year as head coach.
