Short History vs. Opponents
The Golden Eagles do not have much of a history vs. either of this weeks opponents, playing the two squads a total of three times since the 2000-01 season. CU is 2-0 against IU-Northwest, defeating them 68-65 (OT) in 2011 and 57-52 in 2012. Grand Valley and Cornerstone have only met once since the 2000-01 season, and it game in 2002 where CU fell 64-47 on the road. CU's game this week vs. IU-Northwest will be countable toward the records, while the game at GVSU will just be an exhibition.
Scouting IU-Northwest
The Redhawks came out with high expectations to begin the season, starting the year ranked No. 18 in the country. After a slow 6-5 start to the season, IU-Northwest would then drop out of the rankings in the first regular season poll of the year. The Redhawks currently sit at 7-9 on the year losing their last two games to Grace College and (RV) IU-Kokomo. Veteran head coach Ryan Shelton looks to find some answers for the loss of his star senior Grayce Roach, who has not played since November 1, and was averaging a team best 24.3 points per game. The Redhawks currently are relying on the offensive of Chloe Salman and Weslee Wilson, who are each averaging 13+ PPG, but it has not been enough as the team has lost four of its last five games.
Scouting Grand Valley
Grand Valley looks to be one of the top teams in the GLIAC this season, as they are 10-2 on they year and 4-1 in conference play to rank second in the North Division Standings. Second year head coach Mike WIlliams looks to build upon a 26-10 record in his first year, and lead the Lakers to their third consecutive 20 win season with a young talented roster. Balance has been the key to success for GVSU, as they have four players averaging 10+ points per game this season.
Vredevoogd 12 Away
Senior
Cass Vredevoogd continues to cut down her magic number to reaching 1,000 career points. Vredevoogd is now just 12 points away from being the 25th Golden Eagle to score 1,000 points. After spending two years and scoring 497 points at Dordt College, Vredevoogd transferred back to her hometown to play for Cornerstone. Vredevoogd has scored 491 points in her career at Cornerstone, and scored a career best 39 points in a season opening loss at Olivet Nazarene.
Exhibition Game
Cornerstone will play an exhibition game on December 30 at Division II opponent Grand Valley State University. CU will take on GVSU for the first time since 2002, where Cornerstone fell 64-47. Regardless of the result, the game at Grand Valley will not effect their record or statistics for the season. The game will take place at 5 p.m. in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale, Michigan.
Sheridan set to Return
After missing the last three games, leading scorer
Jesse Sheridan is set to return to the CU lineup. Sheridan has not played since a loss to Madonna after suffering a knee injury late in the game. In the three games without the two time WHAC First Teamer, CU has gone 3-0 including a huge win at No. 22 Lawrence Tech. The injury ended a streak of 74 consecutive starts, as Sheridan has been in the starting lineup since she stepped foot on Cornerstone's campus her freshman year.
Home Dominance
The Golden Eagles have played just five of their 16 games this season inside Mol Arena, but when they are at home they have been dominant. CU has posted a 4-1 record at home, including a huge upset victory over WHAC leader Indiana Tech.
