Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Golden Eagles traveled to Huntington for their first road test of the 2021-22 year and the team struggled offensively falling 68-58. Cornerstone is now 0-2 on the year as they could just not cut into the Huntington lead on Saturday evening. CU will play their third straight Crossroads League foe back at home on Tuesday, November 2 at 6 p.m. vs. Taylor University.
Game Flow:
- Neither team could get their offense going in the first as Huntington led just 4-3 after four minutes of play.
- After Olivia Kubik hit a jumper to make the deficit one at 6-5, the Foresters went on a 9-0 run to go on top 13-5.
- Mackenzie Stien hit two free throws at the end of the first quarter to cut the deficit to 15-7 after one.
- Neither team could find their offense in the second quarter, as the two sides combined for just 12 points and Cornerstone trailed 33-21 at halftime.
- Back-to-back jumpers from Mackenzie Stien helped Cornerstone bring the deficit down to seven with 8:23 to play in the third.
- Huntington responded with an 8-0 run to go back up 42-27.
- The Foresters lived at the free throw line in the third quarter as they increased the lead back to 13 and led 49-36.
- A huge three by Kennedy Helderop again put the Golden Eagles within seven with just 4:25 to play.
- Huntington again responded however, using a 13-2 run to increase the lead to 18 at 67-49.
- Olivia Kubik and Maddison Fulks each hit late threes but it was too little too late as the Golden Eagles would fall by 10, 68-58.

Mackenzie Stien did not miss a shot going 5-5 from the field.
40 – Cornerstone was held to under 40% shooting for the second straight time to start the year.
19-16 – Cornerstone lost the turnover margin 19 to 16.

Cornerstone is back home on Tuesday as they host Taylor University at 6 p.m.
