GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Golden Eagles end a three game home stand at Concordia for the lone game before the Thanksgiving break. CU is still looking for their first WHAC win as they sit at 1-7, 0-4 WHAC on the year. After Tuesday's game, CU will not play again until they return home to take on Rochester on Saturday, December 4. To view the game at Concordia, tune-in HERE for live video and statistic links.

Last Week Recap

The Golden Eagles have yet to find a conference win as they dropped road contests to Lawrence Tech and Siena Heights last week. Cornerstone moves to 1-7, 0-4 WHAC on the year as they will play just one more game before Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, November 23 at Concordia.

Strong Week for Kubik

Freshman guard Olivia Kubik has been outstanding off the bench this season and it continued this last week, leading the team in scoring in each of the Golden Eagles two games. She began the week with a career high 18 points at LTU and followed it up as the only player with double-figures at Siena Heights. Kubik is averaging a team second best 9.9 PPG and is shooting 34.6% from the field.

Costen Injury

Last week the Golden Eagles had to make a change to the starting lineup for the first time this season as Emma Costen went down with an injury. Jaylee Long took over as a starter for CU this week as the team went smaller with three guards on the floor. Costen's return to play is up in the air as she suffered a small fracture in her foot after evaluation.

Shooting Woes

The Golden Eagles continue to see shooting woes in the early season with just one of their first eight games shooting above 40%. Last week, CU was held to 32.7% from the field at Lawrence Tech and 38.9% at Siena Heights. Cornerstone is 1-0 when shooting above 40% and 0-7 when shooting under 40%.

Needing to Win the Third Quarter

Cornerstone has been in almost every game in the first half, but has seen the third quarter serve as the biggest hindrance as they have been outscored by 54 points in third quarters this season. The only game where CU outscored their oppoenent in the third also is their lone win, when they outscored Bethel by 10 at home in that period. Twice this season Cornerstone has been held to under 10 points in the third quarter vs. Indiana Tech and Aquinas.

Scouting Concordia

The Cardinals come into 2021-22 as a young team that has posted a 3-4, 1-2 WHAC record. CUAA has had a unique start to the WHAC campaign, falling to Lawrence Tech and Indiana Tech before responding with a 43-42 win vs. Siena Heights. The Concordia defense has been outstanding to start the year, holding opponents to 62.7 points per game including a season best 37 points allowed in their season opener against Siena Heights. Offensively, sophomore Alize Tripp has been really the only weapon, scoring 15.3 PPG on a 48.0% shooting percentage. The three ball is Tripp's forte at 51.9%. Tripp also leads the team with 2.7 assists per game this season.
