AQ Fan Policy
For the upcoming match at Aquinas, visiting fans are welcome. However, Aquinas is requiring all fans, as well as athletes, to wear masks while in attendance. We ask that Cornerstone fans please be aware of this policy and be respectful of the requests put in place by the Aquinas staff.
History vs. Aquinas
In the recordable history for the Golden Eagles, CU has had significant success, going 41-27 against AQ. In recent years CU has commanded the rivalry, winning all three matches last season on their way to the WHAC Regular Season and Tournament Title. Since former Head Coach Ryan Campbell left Cornerstone and ended up at Aquinas, the Golden Eagles have gone 4-1 against him. CU has also done very well on the road in the rivalry, going 15-7 at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center since 2000.
Olivia Keelean WHAC Player of the Week
Junior outside hitter
Olivia Keelean earned her first ever WHAC Offensive Player of the Week Award after leading the Golden Eagles to 2-2 overall on the weekend while leading the team in kills in each of the four games. She also recorded a career high 16 kills in the four-set victory vs. Rochester and has now had double-digit kills in 11 of the 13 games this year. Keelean dominated defensively this week as well with 13 digs vs. IU-Kokomo and 16 blocks on the weekend.
Scouting Aquinas
The Saints have hit their stride of late, winning their last six contests to hold a 9-5 overall record. AQ is 5-0 on their home court and has swept four of their last six opponents. Aquinas was at the AQ/CU Invite this past weekend and was the only team to go 4-0. The key to the Saints success has come on the defensive end, averaging an NAIA best 24.33 digs per set this season. Two players already have over 100 digs, as Adrien Yondo leads the team with 186 and Kenzi Dobosiewicz has 122.
Scouting Indiana Tech
The Warriors have had an up and down early season, with a 5-7 record through their first 12 games. The serve has been a key success point for IIT in the early season, recording 57 service aces to average 1.3 per set. Offensively, Indiana Tech is led by a freshman as Noelle VanOort has 135 kills to average just over three per set through her first 12 matches as an outside-hitter. Defending WHAC Libero of the Year Jacey Blust has also had a strong start to the year with 211 digs to average 4.8 a set.
Scouting UNOH
The Racers continue to struggle over the past few seasons as they are 3-7 so far this season. UNOH has been very young over the last two seasons, as this year they have just one senior and then the rest of their roster is freshmen and sophomores. Despite the youth, UNOH shares the ball offensively very well with five players with 45+ kills this year. Mistakes have been the name of the game for Northwestern Ohio this year however with 260 attacking errors, which is 67 more than their opponents have recorded.
