9/21/2021 3:27:00 PM

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles look to continue a hot start to conference play winning all nine sets last week with a trio of sweeps against Aquinas, Indiana Tech, and UNOH. This week, CU will end a three-game home stand with Hawaiian Night vs. Concordia before hitting the road for WHAC play at Lourdes and Siena Heights. To view the weeks schedule and how to follow the games live please see the attached schedule HERE.

WHAC Player of the Week
The Golden Eagles earned their second WHAC Player of the Week Award as junior middle Kaylee Dykema earned the honor after 20 blocks across three games. She tied her season and career high of seven blocks in two of the three contests and recorded three solo blocks vs. Indiana Tech which is a new career high. Dykema added 20 kills and hit above .300 out of the middle as well to help CU to the 3-0 week.

Blocks
Cornerstone ranks in the top 15 in the country with 3.11 blocks per set which is 12th currently in the NAIA.

Early Season WHAC Outlook
The WHAC has just two teams remaining unbeaten in conference play still as Madonna sits at 4-0 and Cornerstone at 3-0. Siena Heights, Indiana Tech, and Concordia all have just one WHAC loss while UM-Dearborn, Aquinas, and Rochester all have two. UNOH, Lawrence Tech, and Lourdes are still looking for their first WHAC win. Madonna who sits atop the standings, lost the first three games they played this year, but have won 12 straight since to sit 12-3 overall.

Hawaiian Night
Wednesday, September 22, the Golden Eagle women's volleyball team is working with their brother team of the men's volleyball program to host a Stone Zone Hawaiian Night. Students are encouraged to come to the contest in their best Hawaiian outfits for the 7 p.m. match vs. the Cardinals.

Scouting Concordia
The Cardinals continue to fit the mold they have for many years, being a small, athletic, and scrappy team who is always atop the nation in digs per set. This year, CUAA averages 17.71 digs per set to rank 20th in the NAIA as they are 6-7, 2-1 WHAC on the year. Concordia has four players with 100+ digs already including a team high 251 from sophomore libero McKenzie Peters. CU has won the last 43 matchups with the Cardinals and is 46-13 all-time.

Scouting Lourdes
The Gray Wolves have struggled in the early season with another young team that has seven freshmen, going 2-7, 0-4 WHAC through their first nine games. Lourdes has not played a home game yet however, as they will host UNOH on Wednesday before Cornerstone on Friday for a three-game home stand. Errors have been the name of the game for Lourdes, with 210 attack errors, and 67 service errors. Offensively, no one player has stood out as freshman Abby Gentile leads the team with 61 kills averaging 1.91 a set.

Scouting Siena Heights
The Saints have gotten off to a strong start with a 7-2, 2-1 WHAC record sweeping four teams so far this year. SHU is a veteran team this year with six seniors on the roster. Siena Heights has a great serve, with 2.13 service aces per set, but it comes at a high risk and high reward with 68 total aces and 65 service errors this season. Offensively, the Saints spread the ball around very well, with four players with 69+ kills. Aubrey Bates has had a large part in that from the setter position with 333 total assists through nine games for a 10.41 average per set.
