The week began with a 3-0 loss to Bethel and then was followed by a 2-1 loss at Lourdes in the final minutes. The Golden Eagles are now 3-2-3 on the year as they look to rebound this week and get their first conference victory.
Senior Day Honorees
Cornerstone will honor seven seniors on Saturday. Those seniors will be:
Ethan Pike,
Braeden Stewart,
Mitchel Strawser,
Christian Galloway,
David Mawi,
Luke Stewart, and
Kyle Barba.
Cody Bennett is an honorary addition as he will not walk for senior day as he did so last year but will still be celebrated as a fifth year senior with the program.
Top Five in the WHAC
Tyler Corstange and
David Mawi currently rank top five in the WHAC in two major categories, as Corstange is third in the conference in goals scored with six and Mawi is tied for fourth in assists with three.
Ethan Pike also finds himself in the top five at fourth allowing just 1.27 goals against so far this season.
Scouting Siena Heights
After a strong 2-0 start to the season, the Saints have lost four straight being outscored 13-3 in those contests. One of those losses includes a 3-1 loss to Spring Arbor who the Golden Eagles tied in their first game of the year. In the WHAC opener, Siena Heights had the tough task of taking on an NAIA top 15 program in Northwestern Ohio, but only fell 1-0 to the dominant Racers. Offensively, Siena Heights has scored only six goals and all six have been by different players. Defensively the team has a combined save percentage of .517 allowing over two goals per contest through six games.
Scouting Cleary
Cleary has played eight games so far this year and gone 2-4-2 in those contests. In their WHAC opener they fell 2-0 to Rochester and they have lost the last two games outright. Scoring has been an issue for Cleary as well with just nine goals this season, but four of those coming in a single victory over Ohio Christian. The Cougars are very young with 19 freshmen listed on their very large roster. Dillon Croft is one of those freshmen and he is the only player to score multiple times for Cleary this season with three goals on the year.
