Roberto Gutierrez find their names in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) weekly honors. Barron was named the WHAC Attacker of the Week for women's volleyball after earning Defender of the Week last week, while Gutierrez earned his second consecutive and third WHAC Defender of the Week this season for men's soccer.
Kylie Barron - Jr. - WHAC Attacker of the Week
Kylie Barron did a little bit of everything this week in the Golden Eagles 2-1 performance. Most of her accolades came on the weekend starting during the five-set loss to Madonna. Barron did the unthinkable leading the team in kills (15), aces (3), blocks (5), and hitting percentage (.412). 15 kills served as a career high for a little less than 24-hours when she came back at Concordia and upped that number to 18 in a five set win over Concordia. On the week, Barron hit .409 as she leads the team in hitting percentage at .269 on the year. She continues to rank as one of the best blockers in the country as well, ranking sixth in the NAIA with 128 total.
Roberto Gutierrez - So. - WHAC Defender of the Week
For the third time this season and second week in a row,
Roberto Gutierrez has earned WHAC Defender of the Week honors. Gutierrez helped Cornerstone secure a seventh place finish in the regular season to qualify for the WHAC Tournament on Saturday as they will travel to Indiana Tech. CU went 2-0 on the week, allowing just one goal on a PK. Gutierrez also saved a PK on the week and recorded a shutout for his third individual shutout of the year. He made nine total saves, and has improved his season save percentage to .724 on the year.
