GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Director of Athletics Aaron Sagraves announced on Monday that Megan Lenhart has been named the new head coach of the Cornerstone volleyball program. Lenhart is a 2004 graduate of Cornerstone and will serve as the 13^th coach in program history. Lenhart has spent the last nine years as the head coach of Davenport's volleyball program before stepping down at the end of the 2018 season. 

"I am thrilled to bring Megan in as our new head volleyball coach at Cornerstone university," said Director of Athletics Aaron Sagraves. "Her commitment to the continued growth of her players' faith, academics, and on-court success fits into exactly what we are looking for in our next head coach." 

Sagraves added, "being a Cornerstone grad, I know this program has a special place in her heart and I cannot wait for her to shape and mentor so many lives within the program and in our campus community."

Lenhart played for the Golden Eagles from 2000-2003 and was a 2003 WHAC Honorable Mention as well as a team captain. Since she was in college she had been involved in coaching, as she served as a club volleyball coach from 2002-2013 and a Co-Director of the club Far Out Volleyball from 2007-2017. Lenhart was also the assistant coach at Taylor University from 2005-2008 before accepting her first collegiate head coaching job at Davenport in February of 2009. 

At Davenport, Lenhart took the Panthers to two NAIA National Tournaments and won one WHAC Championship. In her final two seasons, Davenport moved to NCAA Division II where Lenhart led the team to two GLIAC Tournaments including a runner-up finish in 2019. 



"My family and I are very grateful for the opportunity to return to Cornerstone," said Lenhart. "I had a wonderful experience as a student-athlete at CU and always believed that God would lead me back here one day. I'm very grateful to Aaron Sagraves and the hiring committee for believing in me to continue the strong tradition of Cornerstone volleyball. Cornerstone is a wonderful place and I hope that not only can we continue to earn more conference championships and national recognition, but more importantly graduate outstanding young women who are equipped to make a positive impact on the world each year."

The Golden Eagles are fresh off a WHAC Tournament Championship and NAIA National Tournament Qualification, posting a 30-10, 15-5 WHAC record. CU won the WHAC Tournament Championship for the second consecutive season in 2018. Cornerstone also graduated just three seniors in 2018 in Kendra Zwart, Mackenzie Vallad, and Marcella Compeau. A core of 12 girls will return for the 2019 season as the team gets set to begin offseason workouts later this summer. 

Cornerstone will open the 2019 season at the SXU/TCC Crossover Tournament where they will face St. Francis (Ill.), Saint Xavier, Marian, and Trinity Christian. CU then will return home for their home opener against IU-Kokomo as part of the AQ/CU Invitational on September 6-7. 

Megan currently resides in Byron Center, Michigan with her husband Chris and her two kids Alexandra and Isaac. Megan and her husband are also excited to be welcoming their third child into the world in the next couple of weeks.
